Columbia Theological Seminary

Overview

The construction of a new library provided this historic, small campus with the opportunity to create a classic campus plan by creating a central quadrangle. This space serves as the heart of the educational institution, while providing a sense of place and reinforcing its distinctive architectural character. Special paving patterns and materials are used to define the campus pedestrian network which is reinforced by a strong pattern of tree planting. This project successfully transformed a loose association of academic buildings into a unified and harmonious environment with the appropriate level of dignity.
